UKAS Testing Accreditation

Bifrangi UK Ltd is pleased to announce that it’s Metallurgical Laboratory has achieved accreditation to ISO 17025:2017 by UKAS. This accreditation demonstrates and underpins our pursuit of quality in all aspects of our business.

The schedule of accreditation is available on the UKAS website and covers the following disciplines:

Room Temperature Tensile Testing up to 600kN

Charpy Impact testing up to 750J and down to -20°C

Hardness testing by Brinell, Rockwell C, Macro and Micro Vickers

Quantitative Chemical Analysis by OES for ferrous alloys

 

This accreditation supports the company’s internal production in Lincoln and Sheffield, but is also available, on a commercial basis, to external customers.

 

Forging For the Future

Bifrangi UK Ltd is investing £50 million in state-of-the-art equipment for its Lincoln site. The principal piece of equipment is a 32,000 tonne percussion Screw Press, the first of its kind in the UK.

This will facilitate the forging of large micro alloy steel-based parts in addition to opening up new markets forging Aluminium, super alloys and more exotic materials.

Innovation is the key to our expansion into new markets.

Our new Research & Development / Technical Centre will develop new forging techniques and material applications.

 

Future Applications

Innovation will enable Bifrangi to develop new processes suitable for the aerospace, petrochemical and renewable energy markets. The new 32,000 tonne press will provide the capability to produce closed die forgings up to one tonne in weight and 3m in length.

The increased power will also enable press forging of exotic materials.
